As anyone who’s had a tooth extracted knows, the pain and swelling afterwards can be pretty unbearable. And on top of that, you’re supposed to avoid hard, crunchy, and sticky foods. So what about ice cream?

Is it off limits after you’ve had a tooth pulled?

The short answer is yes, you can eat ice cream after a tooth extraction. But there are a few things you need to keep in mind.

First, make sure the ice cream is soft. Avoid anything crunchy or hard, like nuts or chocolate chips. Second, eat slowly and carefully to avoid irritating the extraction site.

And last, don’t eat ice cream too soon after the procedure. Wait at least 24 hours to give your mouth time to heal.
