Caedmon’s Hymn is an Old English poem traditionally ascribed to the poet Caedmon. The first part of the poem praises God for creating the world and all of its creatures. The second part tells the story of the fall of man and the redemption of humankind through the coming of Christ.

The final part is a prayer for God’s protection. The poem is significant not only for its religious content, but also for its linguistic value. Caedmon’s Hymn is one of the earliest examples of Old English literature, and it is one of the few surviving examples of Anglo-Saxon poetry. <\/p>\n \n
