Red drum are members of the drum family, Sciaenidae, which are known for their ability to produce a “drumming” sound. The sound is produced by the fish contracting a muscle in their swim bladder. This muscle vibrates against the swim bladder wall, which acts as a sounding board, amplifying the noise. <\/p>\n \n
