Have you ever seen pink chicken? If so, you might have been surprised, and even a little concerned. After all, chicken is supposed to be white meat, right?

Well, it turns out that pink chicken is perfectly safe to eat. In fact, it’s actually quite common.\n\n The pink color in chicken is caused by a protein called myoglobin.

Myoglobin is found in the muscle tissue of animals and is what gives meat its red color. When meat is exposed to oxygen, the myoglobin turns red. Chicken meat, however, contains less myoglobin than other meats.

This is why chicken meat is usually white. <\/p>\n \n
