Cooked chicken typically loses about a quarter of its weight. So, if you start with a four-pound chicken, you’ll end up with about three pounds of cooked meat.\n\n This loss of weight is due to the evaporation of water from the meat.

Chicken is about 70% water, so when it’s cooked, a lot of that water evaporates. The longer you cook chicken, the more weight it will lose. <\/p>\n \n
