Coconut crabs are one of the most unusual creatures on earth. These giant land-dwelling crabs are not only a delicious delicacy, but they’re also one of the few species of crab that can climb trees!\n\nSo, can you eat a coconut crab?

The answer is yes – but there’s a catch. Coconut crabs are protected in many countries and it is illegal to hunt them without a permit. In addition, these crabs are very difficult to catch and prepare, so they’re not exactly an everyday food.\n\n

If you’re lucky enough to find yourself with a coconut crab (and the necessary permits), then you’re in for a treat! These crabs make great eating – their meat is white and delicate, with a hint of sweetness. They can be cooked in many different ways, but steaming or boiling is usually best to preserve their delicate flavor.<\/p>\n \n
