Bathroom outlets are not always 15 or 20 amp. The outlet itself may be a different size and the amperage may vary depending on the home’s wiring. Always check with an electrician to see what size and amperage your bathroom outlets are before attempting to use them.<\/p>\n \n

This is a question that we get asked a lot here at our store. The answer is actually both! Depending on the age of your home, bathroom outlets can be either 15 or 20 amp.

The code used to require that all new homes have 15 amp outlets in the bathrooms, but that has since changed and now 20 amp outlets are required. So, if you’re not sure which amperage your bathroom outlet is, just check the label on the outlet itself.<\/p>\n \n
