According to a recent report, one in three charity shops in the UK are now accepting donations of kitchen knives. This is a significant change from just a few years ago, when most charity shops would not accept any type of knife due to safety concerns. So, what has changed?

And why are charity shops now willing to accept these types of donations?\n\nThe answer lies in two factors: changes in the law and changes in public attitude. First, let’s look at the legal side of things.

In 2016, the UK government made it illegal to sell knives to anyone under the age of 18. This change in the law meant that many high street retailers stopped selling kitchen knives altogether.
