There are a few reasons you might need or want to make a cheese sauce without milk. Maybe you’re out of milk, or maybe you have a lactose intolerance. Whatever the reason, it’s actually pretty easy to make a cheese sauce without milk.

All you need is some cheese, butter, and flour. \n\nTo start, melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Once it’s melted, add the flour and whisk until combined.

Then, turn up the heat to medium and slowly add in the grated cheese while continuing to whisk. The key here is to go slowly so that the sauce doesn’t get lumpy. \n\nOnce all of the cheese is added and smooth, remove from heat and enjoy!
